A few things to know before laptop disassembly.
 

How to remove and replace keyboard in Toshiba Satellite Pro S300m notebook.

This guide explains how to remove and replace the keyboard in a Toshiba Satellite Pro S300m notebook. It's very similar to most Toshiba Tecra notebooks.

STEP 1

Turn off the laptop and remove the battery.

Start removing the speaker/hinge cover as it shown on the picture.

   

STEP 2

It's easier to remove the cover if you separate the hinge cover from the laptop base first.

   

STEP 3

Continue removing the speaker/hinge cover with your fingers.
Remove the cover.

   

STEP 4

Now you can access two screws securing the keyboard.
Remove both screws.

 

   

STEP 5

Push on the plastic latch above the F8 key and lift up the keyboard.
Place the keyboard upside down on the palm rest.

   

STEP 6

Remove one screw securing the keyboard connector cover.
Slide the cover to the right and remove it from the laptop.

   

STEP 7

Place the keyboard so you can access the cable connector underneath.

You have to unlock the connector and release the keyboard cable before removing the keyboard.

   

STEP 8

On this picture you see the keyboard connector in the locked state.

Carefully move the brown locking clip about 2 millimeters towards the LCD screen.
The locking clip must stat attached to the connector base.

   

STEP 9

On this picture you see the same connector in the unlocked state.
Now you can pull the keyboard cable from the connector.

   

STEP 10

Remove the keyboard and replace it with a new one.
