Toshiba Portege 3500 disassembly.

 
Start laptop disassembly with removing the battery

STEP 1

Start laptop disassembly with removing the battery.

 

   
Remove memory, modem, hard drive covers

STEP 2

Remove three screws securing the memory cover, the modem cover and the hard drive disk cover.
Remove all covers from the laptop.

   
Remove memory and hard drive disk

STEP 3

Remove the memory module (if you have any).
Pull the hard drive out of the laptop.
If you want, you can remove the modem card now. (I'll do it later, when I remove the sound card).

   
Remove display assembly bottom cover

STEP 4

Remove four screws securing the display assembly bottom cover.

   
Disassemble Tablet PC

STEP 5

Remove the display assembly bottom cover from the laptop.

   
Take apart Table PC

STEP 6

Remove two screws securing the metal plate over the LCD connector and lift it off.

   
Disconnect Bluetooth

STEP 7

Remove the tape covering the Bluetooth module with connectors.

   
Disconnect Bluetooth antenna and display cable

STEP 8

Carefully disconnect the Bluetooth module antenna. (If you going to remove the system board, you have to remove the Bluetooth module first).
Disconnect the display cable on the system board.

   
Open Toshiba Portege 3500 case

STEP 9

Remove all marked with red circles screws on the bottom of the laptop.

   
Removing laptop keyboard

STEP 10

Turn the laptop right side up.
Using a sharp object, lift up the keyboard securing strip.

   
Remove keyboard securing strip

STEP 11

Remove the keyboard securing strip.

   
Lift up laptop keyboard

STEP 12

Remove two screws on the top of the keyboard.
Lift up the keyboard and place it up side down on the palmrest.

   
Disconnect laptop keyboard and remove it

STEP 13

Disconnec the keyboard cable on the system board.

   
Remove laptop wireless card and memory

STEP 14

Remove the memory module.
Remove the tape covering the wireless card antenna cables, disconnect antenna cables and remove the card.

   
Taking apart laptop

STEP 15

Disconnect the tablet on-off mode switch cable on the system board.
Remove two screws securing the top cover assembly to the laptop base.

   
Dismantle laptop

STEP 16

Rotate the screen, so you can access one more screw.
Remove the screw seal and remove the screw.

   
Lift up top cover and display assembly

STEP 17

Now you can lift up the top cover / display assembly starting from the back of the laptop.

   
Disconnect sound card cable

STEP 18

Before you remove the top cover / display assembly, disconnect the soundboard cable on the soundboard.

   
Remove top cover and display assembly

STEP 19

Remove the top cover / display assemlby.

   
Remove modem card

STEP 20

Before you remove the soundboard, you have to remove the modem card.

   
Lift up modem card

STEP 21

Turn the laptop upside down.
Remove two screws securing the modem card.
Lift up the modem card and disconnect the cable on the modem.

   
Disconnect laptop sound card

STEP 22

Remove three screws securing the soundboard.
Disconnect the flat cable on the soundboard.
Disconnect the speaker cable on the soundboard.

   
Remove laptop sound card

STEP 23

Carefully remove the soundboard from the laptop.
Now you can replace the soundboard.

   
Remove laptop heatsink

STEP 24

When you get inside the laptop, it's always a great idea to clean up the heatsink and the CPU fan.
Remove two screws securing a metal plate over the heatsink and lift up the heatsink from the CPU.

   
Clean laptop heatsink to prevent overheating

STEP 25

This heatsink almost 100% clogged with lint. Clean it up with a canned air.
A clogged heatsink can cause the CPU overheating.

   
Dismantle Toshiba Portege 3500 Tablet PC

STEP 26

I'm not going to disassemble laptop any further.
From this point you can proceed with laptop disassembly on your own.
