STEP 1

Remove main battery.

Remove the hard drive cover and memory cover.

STEP 2

Slide the hard drive assembly to the left and disconnect hard drive from the motherboard.

Lift up and remove the hard drive.

In my Toshiba Satellite L555D I had a regular 2.5" SATA hard drive installed.

STEP 3

Remove one screw securing the DVD drive.

Pull DVD drive from the laptop and remove it from the laptop.

STEP 4

Both memory modules/slots accessible on the bottom of the laptop.

Toshiba Satellite L555D laptop should be able to handle 8GB RAM. You can install up to 4GB RAM module into each slot.

NOTE: you have to run a 64-bit OS to be able to use all 8GB RAM.

STEP 5

Lift up the keyboard bezel with a small screwdriver.

STEP 6

Remove two screws securing the keyboard on the top.

STEP 7

Lift up the keyboard from the laptop.

Be careful, the keyboard still connected to the motherboard.

STEP 8

Now you can access the keyboard cable connector.

STEP 9

You'll have to unlock the connector in order to remove the cable.

Move the white locking tab about 1-2 millimeters towards the LCD screen.

DO NOT separate locking tab from the connector base.

STEP 10

On this picture the connector shown in the unlocked position.

Now you can pull keyboard cable from the connector.
